Progress Report 5: 1st Quarter 2009 PDF Print

The Seward Community Library Museum Building Committee (SCLMBC) continues to see great progress in the first quarter of 2009.  We have begun focusing on fundraising efforts by organizing SCLMBC to represent both the Resurrection By Historical Society and the Seward Community Library Association.  We have obtained letters of support from many community members, businesses, civic organizations and we are reaching out to the community through presentations to these groups.  Our meetings with the city regarding funding options have been also been positive.  Library card drives are underway at the schools and we are reaching out with programs to increase awareness of the resources available to the students through the library and museum.

Thanks to all who attended the April 28 Community meeting.  Realizing how many of the community have been involved with the Seward PARKS project we were impressed with the turnout for our meeting.  Now complete, that project certainly proves what a great community we live in.  Thanks and kudos to all who were involved and participated in PARKS.

The sun is coming up earlier and staying later and our thoughts are turning to the coming summer.· Yet we still have fond memories of the 49ers Ball on New Year’s Eve.· The 49ers Planning Committee would like to thank all of the generous souls who helped to make ringing in 2008, the 49th year of the 49th state a success.

Dream big but “chop wood and haul water.”

We are always encouraged to dream big and reach for the stars when plotting for the future. Practicality and sound economics invariably bring us back to the real world. What is accomplished after that “come to your senses” moment is usually the most fruitful, productive period of any process. The Seward Community Library Museum Steering Committee is currently at such a juncture.
