New Seward Community Library Museum Timeline

2003:  Centennial Celebration.  Initial funding secured.

2004:  First preliminary design completed (later proved to be too large    and costly---back to drawing board).

2005:  Steering Committee formed which later became the Seward     Community Library Museum Building Committee.

2006:  Site Selected and relationship formed with Alaska Community Foundation.

2007:  Site purchased by the city.  Foraker Predevelopment Program (grant) and McDonald Group feasibility study conducted.

2008:  Business Plan developed, 2nd Concept design completed and Project funding began.

2009:  Grant applications, Community Outreach, Community Survey, RFP, SB119, Statehood Celebration, Site Survey, Clearing and Dedication.

2010:  Final Design and Construction Bids. Construction begins.

2011:  Construction continues.

2012:  Seward Community Library Museum Opening, 100th Anniversary of Seward City Incorporation, 100th Anniversary of Alaska as a U. S. Territory, and 100th Anniversary of the Iditarod Trail.
